Our optical transceivers and DACs are engineered and manufactured in compliance with the MSA (Mulitiple Source Agreement) which defines all mechanical and electrical standards for the manufacturing of these products.
Quality & Testing
Compatibility Coding: Just as important to the quality of the hardware is the ability to properly code the EEPROM. This coding is the key to making sure that the product is recognized in the host system. This includes our ability to develop custom solutions such as CWDM, DWDM, BiDi, and extended distances that OEM modules do not support.
Test Results: These are the results of our most recent testing on SFP and SFP+ Single mode optics and comparison to Cisco original published distances. Testing was performed by installing the SFP / SFP+ into a Nexus 5000 switch, attaching 10KM and 40KM fiber spools and measuring the throughput laser power with an optical power meter. Yes. Every optics is manufactured to OEM specifications. Edgeium branded optics look, feel and have identical functionality to that of the OEM.
Do they provide DOM?
There are many different types of optics and each OEM has different specifications. If the particular optic you purchase from the OEM provides DOM (Digital Optical Monitoring) then you can be guaranteed that our Edgeium branded optics will as well. All of our optics are functionally identical to that of the OEM.
